Our Partners

At From the Field, we believe that our business must be
active in encouraging community development and
environmental stewardship through our work in
Madagascar. We currently partner with a variety of
governmental, non-governmental, local, regional and
international organizations committed to these goals:

Local Grower Associations and Artisan Cooperatives
From the Field partners with local artisans and growers
associations in the communities where we work. These
associations are typically comprised of 10-20 men and
women representing loose, family cooperatives. All
members live and work in the local community, and have
demonstrated a high degree of skill at producing their
products for export. From the Field is committed to capacity

building and ongoing training for our partner associations. We actively
support their independent business goals and development priorities.

SAF-FJKM
FTF works closely with SAF, a national Malagasy non-governmental
organization committed to community-based development. SAF
extension agents have worked with Mananara area farmers for over ten
years, teaching sustainable cultivation techniques and assisting with
organizational development. SAF currently works in all regions of the
country where From the Field is active.

United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
The FAO provided generous support to six vanilla growers associations
in the Mananara area through its TeleFoods program. Through a grant
facilitated by two From the Field founders, FAO provided growers with the
best equipment for vanilla processing, storage, and shipping. FAO also
supports agroforestry and income generation projects around
Madagascar.

USAID / BAMEX
BAMEX is a non-governmental organization committed to facilitating trade
relationships between rural farmers and international markets. They
assist grower’s associations with the logistical procedures and
paperwork necessary to export products from Madagascar.

U.S. Peace Corps
From the Field evolved from two of the founder’s Peace Corps
experiences in Madagascar. FTF continues to work with Peace Corps
volunteers as we develop additional community partnerships in
Madagascar. Peace Corps  volunteers have a unique and valuable
perspective on the communities where they live and work.
