FTF Co-founders featured on the U.N. FAO website
Two of From the Field's co-founders, Nathaniel Delafield and Sarah Osterhoudt, are now featured on
the United Nation's website for their work during their Peace Corps service. While volunteers, Nat
and Sarah facilitated an FAO grant bringing improved vanilla processing and storage equipment to
five local farmer's associations near Mananara Nord.

FTF Co-founder presents at the Vanilla 2007 Conference
Sarah Osterhoudt had the honor of presenting a poster at the recent Vanilla 2007 conference hosted
by Rutgers University and Bakto Flavors. This event brought together all variety of people working
with vanilla, including producers, traders, flavor experts, perfume specialists, chemists, and
graduate students.
Sarah's participation was in part supported by a grant from the School of Forestry and Environmental
Studies at Yale University, where she is a first year doctoral student.
At From the Field, we are delighted to announce that the grower
associations we partner with have obtained Organic Certification
from the EcoCert office in Madagascar. FTF worked with seven
growers associations in the Mananara Nord region to organize
the paperwork and inspections necessary for organic
certification. We also sponsored two community workshops
conducted by the Malagasy NGO SAF-FJKM, which focused on
organic farming regulations as well as best practices for curing,
drying, and storing vanilla beans.
From the Field will thus soon be offering Certified Organic
Vanilla Bourbon Beans to bulk and individual buyers. Please
contact us to place your advanced orders. The EcoCert
certification is recognized by the FDA and meets NOP guidelines.

I did receive the beans on time and with no problems. I must say that they are the best beans I have ever used... They are so fresh and plump. I am a chef out in Oregon, and also do a lot of sugar work, and hand made chocolates. In the near future I plan on opening a small artisan chocolate shop, and will definitely use your company to supply my vanilla beans. - Steve H.

The quality of these Bourbon vanilla beans is beautiful, the aroma absolutely intoxicating, and the price is incredibly low...The aromas were of vanilla, for sure, but reached deeper to cocoa, spices, and a heady breath of brandy... I tried it in some desserts, where the more pronounced and defined vanilla flavor in these fresh beans blew away any thought of going back to store-bought extracts.
