of only living season to season.

By compensating growers fairly for their products, FTF also
helps put money into local economies. Instead of bringing
vanilla revenues to far-away regions, growers and their families
reinvest their income into their local communities. The economic
benefits of Fair Trade are thus re-circulated among friends and
neighbors.

At From the Field, we take the education and development
component of Fair Trade programs seriously. Our current
community projects include supporting a tree nursery, providing
business training to grower associations, facilitating the
construction of a community library, and helping associations
access funding to purchase improved processing and storage
equipment.

Fair trade is more than just economics. A program of fair trade
increases the self-esteem and self-respect of individuals, as
producers are treated as specialists with real skills, and not only
as a link in a chain.
Development & Fair Trade

From the Field believes that, as a private business, we
have a responsibility to foster equitable development in
the communities where we work.  We are committed to
Fair Trade principles, and are currently working to become
officially certified as a Fair Trade organization. We also
partner with various local, regional and international
organizations committed to sustainable development.

Growers and artisans who receive fair prices for their
products can better provide for their families. They can
purchase needed school supplies for their children, and
afford medicine when a family member is sick. They are
empowered to plan ahead for the future, instead
