Madagascar is home to unique varieties of high quality products. Madagascar’s
gourmet Bourbon vanilla beans are recognized as the gold standard for vanilla,
while the island’s cloves, cacao, cinnamon, and essentials oils are also world
renown.
Currently, From the Field specializes in single-origin Bourbon vanilla beans and
whole cloves. We partner directly with small and medium scale farmers, who work
on their family-owned fields to cultivate and cure their products. We also are
developing programs to offer single-origin, all-natural cacao, black pepper, pink
peppercorns and other Madagascar food products. Please contact us if you are
interested in partnering with FTF to source a specific product.
FTF also partners with women’s cooperatives that specialize in weaving traditional
hats and baskets from raffia palm. These items may be custom designed to meet
buyer’s individual style and design preferences.
From the Field is excited to develop additional projects using our community-based
trade model. We are currently developing programs with small-scale growers of
Madagascar cacao, which is recognized as some of the finest in the world. Other
new ventures include traditional wood sculptures, natural silk scarves, and
essential oils.
All of our products are all-natural, cultivated under organic conditions, and our
projects are structured using Fair Trade guidelines. We are currently working with
the Fair Trade Federation and EcoCert to officially certify our products as organic
and Fair Trade.
